Do you know how did Music evolve into how we know it today? Let's find out

There are as many articles and posts available on Music as many songs are available! I don't think I will be able to point out anything different than what has already been written and said about music. While I was researching for satiate my intrigue regarding the evolution of music, I came across plethora of articles regarding specific modes, instruments, and instances which have led to music as we know it. However, I could not find an article which would surmise from the evolution of Technology of Music. In this article we will refer to evolution of technology to bring music to the masses.

Earliest documented history of Music

An article on narrates an introduction to the earliest documented evidence of music unearthed by Archaeologists who found primitive flutes made of bone and ivory dating back as far as 43,000 years, and it’s likely that many ancient musical styles have been preserved in oral traditions. The earliest fragment of musical notation is found on a 4,000-year-old Sumerian clay tablet, which includes instructions and tunings for a hymn honoring the ruler Lipit-Ishtar. But for the title of oldest extant song, most historians point to “Hurrian Hymn No. 6” an ode to the goddess Nikkal that was composed in cuneiform by the ancient Hurrians sometime around the 14th century B.C and the oldest musical composition to have survived in its entirety is a first century A.D. Greek tune known as the “Seikilos Epitaph.


Let's look at how the technology of music has evolved over the years and the reach of music is the highest than it has ever been, thanks you this evolution!

As you can see, from Phonograph to Blockchain Technology, in less than 150 years music has grown into a behemoth that the world has never seen before, and it is still growing at an exponential rate! As of now we are at Blockchain Technology, who knows what will be the next step to this evolution.

I present this article as brief introduction into the evolution of technology of music and have not covered any other topics such as Genres, Instruments, Artists (which we will try and include in future articles dedicated specifically to music.
