I sit by the window in a clinic where I practice, and think about how the day went by. It was fruitful and gratifying, client's progressed as expected, their partners/parents happy, and a sense of satisfaction filled within. That pleasant thought gradually limps towards a pattern that is too hard to ignore. The clients are diverse, different age groups and genders, with different problems and different goals. However, there is a set of questions that are almost always asked by everyone that visits.

- How do I lose all this weight?

- How do I build those muscles?

- Why do I always feel drained and am lacking that energy?

- What can I do to have that radiant and glowing skin? My skin feels so dead!

I dwell deeper into those questions and there is an eerie commonality in those questions. All these questions are posed by youngsters in the age group of 20 to 30 years.

It leaves us all wondering - Why? The answer is as simple as it is complex. Lifestyle.

In a report by the World Health Organization, statistics clearly show that all lifestyle disorders start affecting at an early age. Isn't this information pointing out the problem itself?

Now when I look back, what used to be a luxury for us, has become the most basic form of "Chilling" for this generation. For us, while we were kids and growing up, eating out was a monthly outing or restricted to birthdays. Special occasions called for special feast. Look around us now, the most basic task like 'meeting friends', which can very well be free and priceless, is at a café or some fast-food joint where unknowingly the teenagers end up eating processed food, which in turn is creating the imbalance in the entire health system.

Teenage girls of today are more prone to face hormonal issues which results in unexpected weight gain. If beauty magazines and celebrities weren't enough, now we have Social Media and it's "Influencers" to fit in the frame of so-called "Beautiful or Hot". Girls start following crash or fad diets which either makes them Anorexic or they suffer from Bulimia

To those unbeknownst of these terms:

Anorexia - is the condition characterized by a distorted body image , with an unwarranted fear of being overweight.

Bulimia - is a condition wherein a person binges on large amounts of food and then purges (vomits) everything with the belief that this will help them to not put on weight.

Both these conditions are harmful and causes nutrient wash out and under absorption of nutrition

These thoughts and these statistics are disturbing by themselves. I wrap up for the day and decide that I have to address this issue. Bring it out in the open and open a conversation where it is OK to talk about these things so we can help everyone who needs our help. I get down to making a mental note of all the things that I want to talk about, share about, lend my insight about.

I have started preparing my notes for all those issues that are dire and need our attention with critical urgency. Are you ready to hear them out? Are you committed to helping me spread?
